Auburn football QB Hank Brown will enter the transfer portal

A second Auburn quarterback has officially entered the transfer portal as the winter window has opened.

According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Auburn quarterback Hank Brown will enter the transfer portal after two years in orange and blue.

Rumors about his intention to transfer began on December 1st when reports emerged that he would enter the portal. However, he dismissed the rumors on Instagram by writing, “All reports of me entering the transfer portal are not true.” I have not entered the portal. I love you all! Was Damn Eagle.”

However, with Walker White returning and Deuce Knight signed last week, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze is expected to explore options within the transfer portal to give White and Knight more time to develop before taking the reins of the program in the coming years . Auburn is reportedly showing interest in former USC quarterback Miller Moss and former Boston College signal-caller Thomas Castellanos as the transfer portal red carpet is rolled out.

Brown will leave Auburn with three seasons left. He burst onto the scene during the 2023 Music City Bowl when he completed 7 of 9 passes for 132 yards in Auburn’s loss to Maryland. He also showed strength in Auburn’s 45-19 win over New Mexico in September, rushing for four touchdowns and 235 yards in his first collegiate start. However, he lost the starting quarterback role in Auburn’s SEC-opening loss to Arkansas, throwing three interceptions in the first half of the 24-14 loss.

With Brown’s departure, Walker White is the only remaining scholarship quarterback from Auburn’s 2024 roster.
