“Baby Driver” actor Hudson Joseph Meek was laid to rest after his death

Hudson Joseph Meek was buried a week after his tragic death at the age of 16.

A celebration of life service for the late “Baby Driver” actor was held at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama, on Saturday.

The service was livestreamed on Meek’s Instagram page.

During the 93-minute video, Meek’s family and friends gathered at the church to say goodbye to the teen actor.

Several people spoke at the podium and shared their fondest memories of Meek. A choir also sang during the church ceremony.

Fans paid tribute to Meek in the comments section of the livestream.

“I’m praying for Hudson’s family during this difficult time,” one fan wrote.

“The choir did a great job honoring Hudson,” said another.

A third person wrote: “Beautiful service. Our church has been blessed by this family and we will continue to support and pray for them here in Dawson.”

Teen actress Grace Culwell, who starred in Law & Order: SVU, revealed in the comments that she attended the service.

“What a wonderful service and we are glad we were able to be part of it. Sending so much love and prayers to everyone,” she wrote.

Meek is best known for his starring role in the 2017 film Baby Driver alongside Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx and Eiza González.

The 16-year-old died on December 21 after suffering blunt force injuries in a fall from a moving vehicle on the evening of December 19 in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.

Meek’s mother, Lani Wells Meek, posted about her son’s death on her Facebook page shortly after his death.

“It breaks our hearts to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” she wrote. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and made a significant impact on everyone he met.”

An obituary for the young actor said: “He was surrounded by friends, family and the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

“Hudson was also an accomplished actor,” his obituary said. “He has worked on several major feature films and television shows, some of which will be released in theaters in 2025. He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the opportunity to learn the names and stories of each member of the cast and crew.”

“Hudson was an organ donor and his family is comforted knowing that he will continue to help others for years to come,” the obituary reads.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that foul play is not suspected in the accident.

After Meek’s death, his family established the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded each year to a Vestavia Hills High School student.
