“Bad Monkey” renewed for season 2 on Apple TV+

Bad monkey comes back.

The Bill Lawrence series, based on the novel of the same name by Carl Hiaasen, has been renewed for a second season on Apple TV+, with the return of Vince Vaughn.

“I hope people know that Carl Hiaasen is an idol of mine and an inspiration to me as a writer,” the showrunner and executive producer said in a statement. “It’s very exciting to continue telling his story with Vince Vaughn and this great cast, at least the characters who are still alive. I’m extremely grateful to our partners Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. and the entire team helping bring this show to life.”

The acclaimed comedy centers on Vaughn’s Andrew Yancy, who was fired from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys, the logline states. When he comes across a case involving a human arm being fished out by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he will be a cop again.

“Since Bad monkey This highly entertaining series first debuted on Apple TV+ and immediately became a fan favorite,” Matt Cherniss, the streamer’s head of programming, said in a statement. “Led by the incomparable Vince Vaughn as Andrew Yancy and a brilliant ensemble cast, we can’t wait for everyone to experience more hilarious, sun-soaked beach misadventures from Bill Lawrence as the temperatures rise even further in the next film.” Chapter of this captivating crime thriller.”

When talking to The Hollywood ReporterLawrence explained as he pitched Bad monkey For Apple, he had a three-season arc in mind for the role of Andrew about who he would be and where he would go.

“They were really receptive to it,” he said. “At the moment it’s a challenge to do shows and especially to take control of your life and make it happen. We both moved to Florida! It was crazy. It’s not as hot in Florida as it is elsewhere; It’s like someone putting a bag of wet cement on your shoulders. It is hot.”

When asked if he would be around for more seasons after the first season, Vaughn shared that he would be. “I love the character, the world, the tone – all of it. So I think it would obviously be exciting if Bill manages to have a sequel and see where the character goes.”
