Badgers news: Game Thread vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers

After a 44-25 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Wisconsin Badgers return home to end their season and face the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Camp Randall Stadium.

Last Saturday, the Badgers completely collapsed defensively, allowing points on each of Nebraska’s first three possessions while struggling to score back-to-back points in the span of a minute in the first half. From there, despite a solid performance from quarterback Braedyn Locke, they were never able to truly recover, leading to the ugly loss.

That puts Wisconsin at 5-6 heading into Friday’s rivalry game against Minnesota, where the Ax Trophy is on the line. Last year the Badgers were able to reclaim the title on opposing soil, and this week it will be even more important with a bowl game still up for grabs this weekend.

The Badgers, considered 1-point underdogs, are looking for their sixth win and are on a four-game losing streak, while Minnesota, which is 6-5, has suffered two straight losses and is hoping to improve things .

Wisconsin has numerous players questionable for Friday, as wide receiver Will Pauling, linebackers Jake Chaney and Jaheim Thomas, tight end Tucker Ashcraft and defensive linemen James Thompson Jr. and Elijah Hills are all questionable for the game.

However, star safety Hunter Wohler was cleared and can start on Friday without any appointment.
