Baker Mayfield’s Angry Run Through Commanders’ Bobby Wagner thrilled NFL fans

Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Baker Mayfield may not be the most mobile quarterback in the league, but he isn’t afraid to use his legs when the moment calls for it.

That was evident on Sunday when Mayfield recorded an impressive first down on the ground against the Washington Commanders. Mayfield was furious and raced right through an attempted tackle by senior linebacker Bobby Wagner en route to an 18-yard gain.

Mayfield’s 18-yard pickup was the longest run of the game up to that point, and he earned it all as he refused to go under. Take a look at the toughness he displayed against one of the game’s most feared linebackers:

Instead of landing on the deck and sliding to gain a safe lead, Mayfield was determined to gain a few more yards. He stayed upright and fended off Wagner’s contact, causing the 34-year-old to stumble backwards to the ground.

Mayfield’s run kept the drive alive on third down and allowed the Buccaneers to get into the end zone a few plays later to tie the game at 10-10.

Not every quarterback in the league has the strength to take a hit like that and turn it into a big win, and fans on social media praised his resilience.
