“Ball State names Butler’s Mike Uremovich as football coach”

Ball State has hired Butler’s Mike Uremovich as its head football coach, the school announced Wednesday morning.

Uremovich replaces Mike Neu, who was fired 10 games into the 2024 season after nine years at Ball State.

Uremovich (pronounced “you-REM-uh-vitch”) led Butler to three straight season wins and the first national ranking in program history.

“Mike Uremovich brings extensive coaching experience from the high school, small college, FCS and FBS,” Ball State athletic director Jeff Mitchell said in a statement. “He has spent time in Group of 5 and Power 4 conference environments.” He has extensive experience in both coordinator and head coaching roles and has deep contacts in recruiting. What is evident and will excite our fans and players is the urgency and detail of his plan to lead our football program and return the Cardinals to the top of the Mid-American Conference.”
