Bayern Munich vs PSG: Lineups, team news, injuries and more!

Since the demoralizing 4-1 defeat to Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona, Vincent Kompany has led FC Bayern Munich to six straight wins without conceding a goal. Bayern have shown a different form of dominance in each victory, but this newfound confidence will be tested in the next three games, starting with the Champions League clash against PSG on Tuesday.

Since 2001, Bayern have won five of their last six games against PSG. This includes the glorious 1-0 win in the 2020 Champions League final, which was decided by Kingsley Coman’s famous ‘eyes closed’ header.

PSG are six points clear of second-placed Monaco in French Ligue One, but that success has not carried over to the Champions League this season. PSG lost against Arsenal (2-0) and Atletico Madrid (2-1), drew against PSV Eindhoven (1-1) and narrowly beat Girona (1-0). PSG needs to collect points quickly if the team wants to advance to the knockout rounds.

Team news

German branch Kicker published lineup forecasts:

There are no real surprises for Bayern in the selection. Kompany hasn’t shown much rotation and this is the same starting lineup as the Augsburg game, with the exception of Konrad Laimer, who was deployed at right-back over Raphaël Guerreiro. Supported by Alphonso Davies, Coman’s pace on the left will be crucial to offset the incredible speed of Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi.

Guerreiro is expected to feature in the second half, alongside Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry. Thomas Müller, Sacha Boey and Eric Dier will be available as substitutes in the final 15 minutes but should not expect to make major contributions. If the result is clear, it’s possible Adam Aznou will get his first Champions League minutes, but he won’t be waiting on the edge of his seat.

Bayern will continue to play without the services of Aleksandar Pavlović, João Palhinha, Josip Stanišić, Mathys Tel, Hiroki Itō and Sven Ulreich.

PSG used the 4-3-3 all season but switched to a 4-2-3-1 in their last league game, a 3-0 win against Toulouse. PSG’s style is more on the defensive end of the spectrum and will likely park the bus in the hope of sparking the counterattack if Bayern’s backline commits too high up the pitch.
