Skip Bayless had an interesting response to Steve Kerr’s complaints about the officiating in the Warriors’ 91-90 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

The outspoken pundit dismissed Kerr’s claim that the referees were wrong when they awarded Jonathan Kuminga a loose ball foul with three seconds left.

Bayless is right to criticize Kerr and the Warriors for wasting opportunities to put the game out of reach. A series of turnovers and shot clock violations allowed the Rockets to claw their way back into the game. All it took was two free throws from Jalen Green to give Houston the lead with three seconds left to pull off the comeback and end a long losing streak against Golden State.

Still, the foul on Kuminga was particularly egregious as the referees kept their whistles under control for most of the game.

Instead of flying to Las Vegas for an NBA Cup semifinal game, the Warriors will return to Chase Center to host Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks.

At 14-10, Golden State struggled to maintain any semblance of consistency. Just a few weeks ago, it looked like the team had rediscovered its winning ways, but things can change quickly in the NBA. After losing seven of their last nine games, the Warriors are a few steps behind the Western Conference’s elite teams.

For Kerr and the team, the most important thing will be figuring out how to finish games, as heavy-handed refereeing won’t do much to change Golden State’s fourth-quarter shooting woes.
