During the Cincinnati Bengals’ stunning 30-24 overtime win over the Denver Broncos on Saturday, running back Chase Brown suffered a sprained ankle, according to head coach Zac Taylor and NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Brown suffered the injury while attempting to slide near the end zone late in the fourth quarter, and the extent of the injury is unknown at this time.

“All I know is it’s an ankle sprain, so we’ll see,” Taylor told reporters after the game.

Brown recorded 20 carries for 67 yards in Saturday’s win before leaving the game just inside the two-minute warning of the fourth quarter and not returning for overtime.

After the injury, Brown managed to get back to his feet but took a few more steps before collapsing on the turf. He then walked to the sideline with a noticeable limp.

Khalil Herbert replaced Brown and finished the game with 23 yards on four carries.

In his second NFL season, Brown has recorded 209 carries for 923 yards and seven touchdowns and has appeared in all 14 games so far.

In his rookie season last year, Brown missed several games with a hamstring injury, but still recorded 44 carries for 179 yards.

The Bengals’ final game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a must-win for them to secure a spot in the postseason.
