After taking a two-day break following a double-digit loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Philadelphia 76ers returned to their home court on Wednesday to take on the Houston Rockets.

At the start of the match, Sixers head coach Nick Nurse had high praise for the opponent that night. The Sixers viewed the Rockets as one of the best teams they faced so early in the season and knew they would have their hands full on Wednesday.

An undermanned Sixers team put the Rockets in trouble until the end. Despite falling behind all night, the Sixers managed to tie the game in the fourth quarter and force overtime.

Considering two of the Sixers’ three wins this season came in overtime, they liked their overtime chances. Unfortunately, they couldn’t stay undefeated in this category. The Sixers failed with a 122:115 defeat. They fell to 3-14 on the year.

The Sixers faced another two-day break. Now they get the opportunity to face the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. As Detroit enters the match having been tipped off less than 24 hours before Saturday’s game, they are in good spirits and are enjoying an NBA Cup victory that resulted in a blowout victory over the Indiana Pacers.

In a previous game against the Pistons, the Sixers suffered a 105-95 loss. Detroit ended an eight-game losing streak. The Sixers hope to get healthier on Saturday as they updated the injury statuses of Paul George and Caleb Martin.

But Philly will continue to be shorthanded with Joel Embiid out again for the night. Once again, the Sixers will rely on Tyrese Maxey to try and lead them to victory.
