Beyoncé pokes fun at Netflix’s past live streaming mishaps in the NFL Christmas teaser

Beyoncé is ready to land.

A day after her NFL halftime performance for Netflix at the Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans Christmas game, the decorated musician released a clever teaser trailer. In the clip posted to social media on Tuesday, she uses her stiletto pump to park a runaway soccer ball.

The crowd roars as the camera pans up to reveal the “Crazy In Love” singer playing a banjo to the tune of her recent country crossover hit “Texas Hold ‘Em.” Eventually, the screen goes into buffer – a nod to Netflix’s previous livestreaming woes – and continues with a devilish wink from Bey.

Netflix humorously responded to Beyoncé’s post, writing “Now wait a minute…” and changing its account bio to “roasted by Beyoncé 12.24.24.”

The Grammy-winning singer, dancer and businesswoman is from Houston, the Texans’ hometown and the site of Wednesday’s game. That makes their halftime show a homecoming, but the entire nation will be able to tune in — at least for a few hours.

The Ravens-Texans game begins streaming at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT. Under the terms of Netflix’s new deal with the NFL, the two Christmas games (the other is Chiefs vs. Steelers, starting at 1:00 p.m. PT/10:00 a.m. PT) will expire three hours after the live stream ends. That means the curtain falls on the Beyhive at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.

The singer released her latest album, Cowboy Carterin March. She hasn’t performed the album live yet, making this Houston homecoming a prime opportunity for a premiere.

Cowboy Carter He topped this year’s list of Grammy nominations and received 11 awards, including the coveted Record, Song and Album of the Year awards. Beyoncé already held the title of most Grammy winners in history, but this year earned her another crown as the most nominated artist in Grammy history.

The album marks the singer’s first full foray into country music, but didn’t earn her any nominations at last month’s Country Music Association Awards, which her pop-country colleague Kelly Clarkson called “fascinating” because “these songs are everywhere were”.

As for Netflix, the streamer faced criticism when previous live events experienced technical issues. The Season 4 Reunion of Love is blind was delayed by 45 minutes in April 2023, and part of the livestream fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul last month was incorrect.

With Queen Bey on the field, the stakes for a seamless streaming experience are higher than ever. Check out the new teaser above.
