The “groutfit,” or gray outfit, is often reserved for lounging around the house, stuffy boardrooms, or late-night trips to the airport. However, for Beyoncé, it was the perfect choice for a trip to Broadway. Beyoncé began her look with a knit top tucked into a pair of cut-off hot pants that were so small they could be described as briefs. The singer offset the length of her shorts with an oversized suit coat and suede boots that reached her knees. She then added a gray baseball cap, statement nerd glasses and an elongated black clutch.

While Beyoncé has previously rocked all-gray in a more exaggerated way, this time she left the glitz and glamor to the Broadway pros. Beyoncé and Rowland snuck into the audience on opening night Death suits her Appearance with Megan Hilty, Jennifer Sinard and her former bandmate Williams as Viola Van Horn. After the performance, Beyoncé and Rowland met backstage with Williams, who was all decked out in her stage clothes, hair and makeup.

Beyoncé documented the night on her Instagram with a series of photos that she captioned with the words “My Belle.” The singer’s mother, Tina Knowles, was also in attendance.
