Biden honors veterans on the eve of the 83rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor

Just a day before the 83rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Biden honored American veterans and their families.

Biden attended a performance of “The Eyes of the World: From D-Day to VE Day” on Friday evening and addressed the crowd before meeting a veteran in attendance before the show.

Playbill first learned that Biden would be attending the American History Unbound event.

The show tells the story of the final months of World War II in Europe through writings and images by “Ernest Hemingway, Lee Miller, Robert Capa, the 761st Tank Battalion, and a young intelligence officer who would later become a novelist.”

The show is narrated by historian John Monsky, who developed the work, which includes films and photographs from the National Archives as well as musical performances.

On Friday, Biden also issued his National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day proclamation.

On National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we honor the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed on that tragic December morning 83 years ago. And we recognize the absolute courage of the service members who fought to defend democracy and resist fascism abroad in World War II after this painful and unprovoked attack,” Biden wrote in part.
