Big 12 will send six teams to the 2024 NCAA Volleyball Championship

Six Big 12 teams have been selected for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. Arizona State and Kansas were each seeded No. 3, while Baylor and Utah will co-host as No. 4 seeds. BYU and TCU each entered the tournament as No. 5 seeds.

This is the second straight season the conference has had at least six teams in the field, and it is the third time in the last four years the league has had at least six teams in the tournament. The Big 12 ranked second among leagues nationally, with four teams hosting the first and second rounds.

Arizona State (29-2), the 2024 Big 12 champion, is making its 21st and second consecutive appearance in the school’s NCAA Championship. The Sun Devils went 17-1 in league play and secured the first conference title in team history. ASU finished the regular season undefeated at home for the first time since 1973 and hosts New Hampshire on December 6 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The winner will face either No. 6 seed Texas A&M or Colorado State.

Kansas (24-4) returns to the tournament for the fourth straight year and 13th time overall, all under head coach Ray Bechard. The Jayhawks won 15 conference games and finished second in the league standings (15-3) and will host Colgate on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. CT. KU and Colgate will be paired with No. 6 seeds Florida and NC State.

Baylor (22-7, 14-4) will host the first two rounds in Waco and face Wofford on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. CT. The other half of the group consists of No. 5 seeds Dayton and South Carolina. This is the ninth straight selection for the Bears and the 13th overall selection for BU.

Utah (24-5, 14-4) will host as the Utes advance to their 19th overall NCAA championship and first since 2021. Utah will face College of Charleston on Dec. 5 at 8:30 p.m. CT and will face No. 5 seeds Marquette and FGCU.

TCU (21-7, 13-5) will face Hawaii on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. CT in Eugene, Oregon. The Horned Frogs secured a spot in the field for the third straight year and sixth time overall. It is the first time in program history that TCU has made the tournament in three consecutive seasons.

BYU (19-9, 12-6) will face Loyola Chicago on Dec. 5 at 2:30 p.m. CT in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Cougars made it to the postseason round for the 13th consecutive time and 37th time overall.

In the third year, the top 32 teams nationwide were seeded into groups of four and placed in four regions. The first and second round games will be played December 5-7 at 16 campus locations. The teams that won both games will continue regional play December 12-15. Regional competition for the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held at four undetermined on-campus locations, which will be announced on December 8th. Four teams at each location will compete in the single-elimination regional semifinal competition.

Regional winners advance to the national semifinals and championship final hosted by the University of Louisville in partnership with the Louisville Sports Commission on December 19th and 22nd at the KFC Yum! is organized. Center in Louisville. The national semifinals will be broadcast on ESPN starting at 6:30 p.m. ET and the championship game will be broadcast on ABC at 3:00 p.m. ET
