Bitterly cold temperatures will remain in place Saturday evening – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – Light snow showers are still expected in the area this evening. Temperatures will be in the teens and wind chills will be in the single digits tonight and near zero overnight. Be sure to wear extra layers and cover exposed skin to protect it from frostbite. Limit time outside.

Expect a very cold start Sunday morning with some sunshine throughout the day before clouds increase ahead of the next downpour Sunday evening and Monday.

Areas south of I-70 will experience steady snowfall after midnight, with snow extending further north overnight when it is heaviest. We will see another wave of snow late Monday afternoon before the storm tapers off late Monday evening.

A slight shift in track can significantly change the totals, but the highest reliability is possible for snow bands south of I-70 for portions of Greene, Fayette and the Westmoreland County ridges with snow amounts up to about 6 inches. Snowfall amounts decrease rapidly as one approaches northern Allegheny County and then become much smaller amounts north of Allegheny County for Butler, Armstrong, northern Beaver, Indiana and the North. The highest amounts of snow will fall in MD/WV and along I-68, with higher amounts in the highest elevations of Preston and Garette counties, where some locations will see over 10 inches of snow.
