“Blue Jays open to reunion with rumored Red Sox target.”

The Red Sox need a right-handed hitter and have been linked to a popular name in free agency.

Boston last targeted Teoscar Hernández as a free agent, and the 32-year-old expressed his love for Fenway Park. Despite missing the bat, the Red Sox are expected to be a destination for Hernández, but they will face stiff competition.

The Los Angeles Dodgers would like to bring the two-time All-Star back, and Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins didn’t rule out a possible reunion.

“It’s hard for me to talk about free agents and interest or lack of interest,” Atkins said, according to Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star. “But I can say that with Teo there is so much positive about him that we are definitely interested in finding a way to make it happen.”

Hernández played six years for the Blue Jays before being traded to the Seattle Mariners prior to the 2023 season. Atkins admitted he didn’t regret the move at the time, but Toronto could use the 2024 Home Run Derby champions to round out the lineup with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette.

The Red Sox also want Hernández to complete their lineup. However, following Juan Soto’s mega-deal with the New York Mets, Hernández is likely to be the next big prize for teams to win.
