Bo Nix steps into the spotlight for the first time on Monday night

For rookie quarterback Bo Nix, every Denver Broncos game seems to be a nationally televised, prime-time contest.

“In our shoes, every time we touch the field it feels like prime time because as far as we know there’s nothing else going on,” Nix said. “We’re right there right now. We are in the middle of the game. And you know, every game is prime time, every time you go out and put your helmet on and put your uniform on. By the way, this week it’s a cool uniform. Every time you do that, it’s special and you don’t want to take it for granted.

“Playing in the NFL is a special opportunity, so every time you take it you just want to make the most of it, make the most of it, and this time it happens to be a little bright and the sun is setting.”

That’s because Denver is really playing in prime time this week. The Broncos and Cleveland Browns will face off on Monday at 7:15 p.m. CST at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. ESPN will televise the game.

Nix, a former Pinson Valley High School and Auburn quarterback, is looking forward to his first appearance on “Monday Night Football” and hopes he doesn’t become the spotlight for Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

“They’re great,” Nix said. “These are the reasons why you play this sport. That’s why you play the game. What you dream about for the NFL. And you know, I think every week it feels like you’re playing against a different top player. I think it’s just a matter of how good the league is and how outstanding the talent is. But we can only worry about ourselves. We just have to focus and execute. We can’t let guys like that beat us and just play a career game.

“And so we just have to focus on the little things, executing the play and the details, kind of going back to basics – doing a good job on first and second down, converting on third down when you’re in the red.” Zone has to score.”
