Bo Nix’s second touchdown of the night gives the Broncos a 21-10 lead

It’s been three drives and the Chargers can’t stop the Broncos’ offense.

Bo Nix threw his second touchdown of the game – this time to fellow rookie Devaughn Vele for a 6-yard score that gave Denver a 21-10 lead midway through the second quarter.

With 6:22 left in the second quarter, the Broncos already have 219 yards. They average 7.8 yards per play and are 3 of 3 on third downs.

On that third possession, the Los Angeles defense had a chance to get off the field on third-and-11 for a three-and-out. But Javonte Williams gained just enough on a check-down pass to move the chains.

At that point, Denver got its big play of the possession when Nix hit Marvin Mims with a short pass to the left side that the receiver carried 54 yards to the Denver 6-yard line.

Nix’s next throw came from Javonte Williams, which should have been a touchdown, but that didn’t matter. On the next play, Nix rolled left and found Vele open in the end zone for the score.

The officials initially threw a flag downfield for an ineligible receiver, but picked it up. Prime Video rules analyst Terry McAuley noted that it appeared to be a foul, although the officials brushed it off.

On their previous possession, the Chargers scored a 37-yard field goal. The club had a third-and-1 in the red zone, but the running game was blown up for a 2-yard loss. Head coach Jim Harbaugh decided to settle for a three-pointer from Cameron Dicker instead of focusing on fourth-and-3.
