Boise State star Ashton Jeanty is going viral for being the only Heisman finalist to represent his school

Boise State Running back and Heisman Trophy hopeful Ashton Jeanty has captured the attention of college football fans this season due to his outstanding performance on the field, but on Friday he garnered even more attention on social media for his outfit choice.

The Heisman Trophy finalist arrived in New York this weekend ahead of the highly anticipated 90th annual ceremony on Saturday evening. During press work, X’s fans noticed a big difference between Jeanty and his colleagues Heisman candidates.

Jeanty, who also made a name for himself among fans by speaking openly about his faith, was praised by many on social media for wearing an orange and blue tracksuit representing the Broncos.

When asked why he chose this outfit, Jeanty admitted that if it weren’t for Boise State, he wouldn’t be in this position today.

“When they read the little Heisman brochure, they said they encouraged us to wear our gear,” he said with a laugh Friday. “But whatever, I still wanted to wear it because without Boise State I wouldn’t be here and I just want to represent my school. I think that’s important.”

Jeanty is the first running back Heisman Trophy finalist since 2017. After an impressive season in which he led the country with 2,497 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns, Jeanty joins him as one of the top two favorites Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter.

But despite these successes, Jeanty feels that his place in New York goes beyond personal success.

“The running back position has been overlooked for some time,” Jeanty said. “There were a lot of great running backs before me that should have been here in New York, so I think it’s great to continue the legacy of the running back position as a whole position.”
