Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty announces his final game on the Blue

Jeanty, a junior, finished the regular season with 2,288 rushing yards.

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State junior running back Ashton Jeanty will play his final game on Blue Friday.

He confirmed the news during Thursday’s press conference before the Mountain West Championship game against UNLV.

Jeanty, a leading Heisman candidate, finished the regular season with 2,288 rushing yards.

He needs 341 yards to surpass Barry Sanders’ all-time rushing record in a single season. He will have at least two games left to break the record.

On Thursday, Jeanty told reporters that he couldn’t do it alone. So he took his offensive line to dinner in Barbacoa earlier this week.

“It was a good time to show them my appreciation. You can’t do 2,000 yards alone,” he said. “They’ve done a great job blocking and opening holes for me all year, and I couldn’t do it without them. I just really appreciate them.”

The finalists for the Heisman Award will be announced on Monday, December 9th.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in New York on December 14th.

Jeanty is expected to enter the NFL draft after this season.
