Braves News: Winter meetings begin, Alex Anthopoulos discusses offseason, more

The Winter Meetings are underway, which typically marks the start of the most active and chaotic week on the baseball offseason calendar. We’ve already seen the biggest name in sports finally find a new home (Juan Soto is a Met), while many other notable names have also signed in new places this offseason.

For the Braves on Sunday, Alex Anthopoulos talked a little about the Braves’ offseason plans. He noted that payroll, and particularly the imposition of the luxury tax for the third consecutive year, would not be a factor limiting the Braves’ activities this offseason. When they find movements they like, they have the means to implement them. And with many of the top National League teams of 2024 already taking steps to improve their rosters, that’s both encouraging and exciting to hear in hopes that the Braves are on the verge of a significant move or two this week could.

The season recaps continued, next up was Orlando Arcia’s 2024 season.

Dave Parker and Dick Allen were elected to the Hall of Fame by vote of the Classic Baseball Era Committee. While neither played a game for the Braves, Allen was once traded to Atlanta but refused to report.
