Browns place Greg Newsome II on injured reserve

The Cleveland Browns have placed CB Greg Newsome II (hamstring) on ​​injured reserve and waived WR Kadarius Toney. Additionally, the team signed WR Kaden Davis, WR Jaelen Gill, K Riley Patterson and T Julian Pearl to the practice squad and released DT Michael Dwumfour from the practice squad.

Newsome has appeared in 13 games with three starts. He recorded 27 tackles, one interception and five passes defensed.

Toney appeared in three games for the Browns. He recorded two rushing attempts and four punt returns for 44 yards.

Davis (6-1, 193) is officially playing his first NFL season away from Northwest Missouri State. He was originally signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and was also a member of the Cardinals’ practice squad in 2023. In 2024, Davis was a member of the Lions’ and Broncos’ practice squads. Davis will wear number 89.

Gill (6-0, 185) is a rookie from Fresno State. He was originally signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent. Gill will wear number 83.

Patterson (6-0, 195) is in his fourth NFL season in Memphis. Originally signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2021, Patterson has played 40 career games with the Lions (2021 and 2023), Jaguars (2022), Browns (2023) and Jets (2024). He made 59 of 67 field goal attempts and 96 of 100 PATs. Patterson appeared in two games with the Browns in 2023, converting his only field goal attempt and six of seven PATs. He will wear number 10.

Pearl (6-6, 325) is in his rookie season out of Illinois. He was originally signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent and spent time on the Vikings’ practice squad this season. Pearl will wear No. 60.
