Bryce Young trails only Cam Newton in the record books after his touchdown pass in the first half

Bryce Young had already rushed for a touchdown in the first half for the Carolina Panthers. He recorded his eighth straight game with a touchdown through the air with a touchdown pass in the second quarter. Young has thrown a touchdown in every game since coming off the bench.

That’s obviously a personal record for the second-year player, who struggled to find any consistency in the first two years of his NFL career. It’s also the highest performance by a player in a long time, a mark held by franchise legend and former NFL MVP Cam Newton.

Bryce Young threw a touchdown to Adam Thielen over the top of the defense, a target he had been eyeing a lot lately. Thielen returned from a hamstring injury and picked up where he and Young left off last season. Young’s eighth straight game with a touchdown pass gives him the most in a row since Cam Newton threw one in 11 straight games in 2018.

Since coming off the bench, Young has revived his career with his play. It hasn’t always been perfect, like last week’s four turnovers against the Dallas Cowboys, but it has required a touchdown pass in eight straight games. After only throwing 11 pitches last year, it’s impressive that Young only managed one hit in eight games.
