Buffalo’s offense dominated Detroit’s defense in a 48-42 win

In a game that was touted as a preview of the Super Bowl, one team looked great and another team was impressive by hanging on despite a barrage of injuries.

The Bills went to Detroit and absolutely dominated the Lions’ weakened defense, taking an early lead and never relinquishing it in a game they won 48-42. Josh Allen looked like the MVP favorite he is, and the Lions’ injury-ravaged defense couldn’t do anything about it.

It was the NFL’s highest-scoring game this season, surpassing last week’s Bills-Rams game.

For the Bills, the win clearly shows that they are a team to be reckoned with heading into the home stretch, even if it is a great chance to overtake the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. As long as Allen is healthy, the Bills will be a very difficult team to beat in the playoffs – even if the path to the Super Bowl in the AFC lies through Kansas City. Allen passed for 362 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 68 yards and two touchdowns.

But will the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC lead through Detroit? It looked like that all season, but now it’s less certain. The Lions’ defense has been plagued by injuries, and at this point they are essentially drafting top-notch players on defense. Jared Goff was outstanding, throwing for 494 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions, but the Lions defense is a MASH unit.

At 12-2, the Lions are still the top team in the NFC. But the 11-3 Bills are healthier and need to feel better about their chances of winning right now.
