Cam Heyward sets the record straight with difficult comments on defense

After three consecutive subpar performances from the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, many are looking for a specific player to blame.

Cam Heyward inadvertently fueled speculation about a “mystery, struggling player” by commenting that ten players did their job and one player dropped the ball after the team’s Week 17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Steelers defensive tackle clarified his comments in a teaser for an upcoming episode of his podcast, “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward.”

Co-host Hayden Walsh first addressed the misunderstanding, noting that while many assumed Heyward was singling out a specific player for the Steelers’ defensive woes, the defensive tackle was actually criticizing the defense as a whole. Heyward then reassured fans by explaining exactly what he meant by his comments:

“Guys, I didn’t mean anyone in particular,” Heyward explained. “I am a grown man. If I have a problem with someone, I will talk to them. And I’ll probably talk to him on the field.”

Fortunately, the search for this so-called struggling player can finally come to an end, allowing the team to focus on its Week 18 game against the Cincinnati Bengals without any more unnecessary distractions.
