Carlo Ancelotti: Real Madrid will appeal against Vinicius Junior’s red card – “There were two yellows”

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has said they will appeal Vinicius Junior’s red card after he was sent off against Valencia for the second time in three years, the third red card of his career . The Brazilian raised his arms at Stole Dimitrievski and was sent off after a VAR review.

Away from the action, Dimitrievski caused a reaction after telling the Brazilian to his face to get up after he went down in the penalty area. Vinicius jumped up and shoved Dimitrievski with both hands, not in the chest but in his face. Ancelotti still felt it was not worthy of being sent off.

“We will appeal. We believe it wasn’t red, but two shades of yellow. He was sent off, but the team responded to this difficulty as well as to the missed penalty. We will appeal, I don’t know if they will accept it. I didn’t say anything to him, I congratulated the players, I told them the same thing I said here.”

Ancelotti did not want to say that Dimitrievski had caused Vinicius to be sent off.

“Before it was a touch from the goalkeeper and then a push from Vini. I think two yellow cards were enough, the problem was solved. I don’t want to say he fell into the trap. As always, he tried to do things well, sometimes he succeeds, sometimes a little less. But it ends here. I hope I can play the next game. And nothing more, he continues to be crucial for us.”

After the game, Vinicius took to social media to apologize to his teammates, but he could be sidelined for some time. If their appeal is unsuccessful, Vinicius will face a ban for two to four games for his actions.
