There is great public uncertainty about who is in control Drones spotted over the east coast. But one idea dominates: The public suspects that the U.S. government is withholding information from them.

Americans have a number of theories about who controls this Droneswith the US government being the most suspected, but no single answer dominating.

Just over half the country is paying attention to the story, and the more they pay attention, the more likely they are to suspect that the U.S. government is controlling the drones.

Either way, about half of Americans think drones are one Danger to the US This is especially true for those who believe the drones are controlled by a foreign country or government.

This CBS News/YouGov poll was conducted with a nationally representative sample of 2,244 U.S. adults surveyed between December 18 and 20, 2024. The sample was weighted to be nationally representative of adults by gender, age, race, and education US Census American Community Survey and Current Population Survey and 2024 presidential election. The margin of error is ±2.4 points.
