ATLANTA (Dec. 8, 2024) – In the first-ever College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, the Big 12 Champion No. 4 seed Arizona State Sun Devils will face the winner of the CFP First Round game between the No. 12 seed Clemson Tigers and to the No. 5 seed Texas Longhorns. The winner of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will then play in the CFP semifinals the following week.

The 57th Annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will take place on New Year’s Day at 1:00 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be nationally televised by ESPN. This was preceded by the CFP first round game between No. 12 seed Clemson and No TNT/MAX.

The newly expanded 12-team CFP field consists of the five highest-ranked conference champions by the CFP Selection Committee and the seven highest-ranked remaining teams. The four top-seeded conference champions were then seeded one through four, each receiving a first-round bye, while the other eight teams played in the first round, with the higher seeds beating the lower seeds either on campus or elsewhere designated locations by the higher institution. The Sun Devils secured a spot in the CFP after winning the program’s first Big 12 championship with a 45-19 victory over Iowa State in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday.

Arizona State received the four seed and a first-round bye as the Big 12’s fourth-seeded conference champion, while Texas finished fifth in the SEC and Clemson received the 12th overall seed as ACC champion.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl last hosted a CFP game in 2022, when eventual No. 1 national champion Georgia defeated No. 4 Ohio State 42-41 in the CFP semifinals.
