Chances of rain and storms increase, temperatures drop as a strong cold front moves through Central Florida – WFTV

ORLANDO, Fla. – A thunderstorm warning has been issued for Central Marion County until 11:45 a.m

Wind speeds are approaching 60 miles per hour and damage to roofs, siding and trees is expected.

Ocala, Lynne, Santos, Anthony, Ocala Airport, Silver Springs Shores and Burbank are expected to be affected.

Central Florida will see a day of active weather on Wednesday.

Our area will experience a high chance of rain and storms as well as falling temperatures as a strong cold front moves through our area.

A few light showers are possible mid-morning, but the chance of rain and storms is greater late morning into the afternoon.

Some storms could be strong northwest of Orlando, with lightning and gusty winds posing the greatest threat.

Today’s highs will be in the upper 70s.

The cold front will move through our area later Wednesday, skies will clear late and temperatures will quickly fall into the 50s this evening.

Overnight lows will fall into the mid 40s, with the 30s likely in the northwest.

Despite lots of sunshine, a cool day awaits us on Thursday.

On Thursday, highs will only rise into the mid 60s with a strong northerly wind.

The cool spell will be short-lived as warmer weather quickly returns on Friday.

Highs to end the work week will be in the low 70s.

Mid and upper 70s return this weekend, along with a few more clouds and a few coastal rain showers.
