Chargers RB JK Dobbins left Monday night’s game against his former team with a knee injury

JK Dobbins’ Monday night ended badly against his former team.

Dobbins was sidelined with a knee injury in the fourth quarter of the Los Angeles Chargers’ Week 12 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Dobbins made a questionable call late in the second quarter and went to the locker room. According to the ESPN broadcast, he never returned and had a large brace on his left knee.

An injury to Dobbins is even more concerning given his past.

Dobbins, a second-round pick by the Ravens in the 2020 NFL Draft, spent four years with the club and showed plenty of potential that was often overshadowed by his injury woes. He played in just 24 games in four years, including missing the entire 2021 season after tearing his knee. In 2022, Dobbins was limited to eight games due to a separate knee injury, and in 2023 he tore his Achilles tendon in Week 1.

He found a new life in LA with familiar faces like offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

On Monday, Dobbins had six carries for 40 yards, an average of 6.7 yards per attempt. Prior to Monday’s performance, Dobbins had rushed 158 times for 766 yards and eight touchdowns. In 11 games during his rookie season in 2020, Dobbins has already come close to career highs of 805 yards and nine touchdowns.

Whether he can reach new heights in his career and shake off the injury woes of recent seasons is now uncertain as the severity of Dobbins’ recent knee injury remains to be seen.
