Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, scores a hole-in-one at the PNC Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tiger Woods isn’t the only member of his family producing big moments. His 15-year-old son Charlie scored his first ace in the PNC Championship on Sunday.

Woods seemed more excited than he would have been if he had made the hole-in-one himself.

Charlie Woods hit the 7-iron from 175 yards on the par-3 fourth hole at the Ritz-Carlton Club Orlando in the final round of the tournament that mostly brings together major champions with family members.

He didn’t even know it went into the hole. A large gallery on the green began to cheer wildly, as did another group of fans on the other side of the hole. Most of them held up their index fingers – some down to indicate he was going into the hole, others up to indicate his score. TV cameras finally confirmed it.

“It was a perfect 7-iron, so I just hit it,” Charlie Woods told Golf Channel. “Bottom left, a small cut 7. It was great. I didn’t think it went in. I don’t believe anyone until I go up there and look at it.”

Woods hugged his son tightly and then playfully pushed him away.

“The first one,” Charlie said as cameras surrounded him.

Better yet, it gave them a temporary edge. This is the fifth consecutive year Woods and his son have played the 36-hole tournament.
