Charlotte Hornets star leaves game against 76ers with injury

As the Philadelphia 76ers attempt to close out their Monday night matchup against the Charlotte Hornets with a win, their opponent suffered a crucial setback.

In the fourth quarter, Hornets star player Brandon Miller suffered an ankle injury. After being evaluated by the Charlotte training staff, Miller was diagnosed with an ankle sprain. His evening ended after 31 minutes.

Before Monday’s game, the Hornets were fortunate to get a key player back in the game. Star guard LaMelo Ball has been sidelined in recent weeks with a calf sprain. For the first time in weeks, the Hornets have upgraded Ball to questionable.

After shootaround and pregame warmups, Ball was deemed ready to play. Although the Hornets were still missing a key player in Tre Mann, they had most of their key players in action against an undermanned Sixers team.

Losing Miller down the stretch was crucial for Charlotte. After missing four of his first five games of the season, Miller played 21 straight games leading up to Monday’s game.

The outstanding young player scored 22 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field. He attempted 11 shots from three balls per game and destroyed 36 percent of his three-balls. In addition to his scoring efforts, Miller has contributed five rebounds and three assists per game.

The Sixers are looking for their eighth win of the year, which would mean their third against Charlotte on Monday night.
