Road conditions across Oklahoma are improving after a winter storm brought snow to the state on Thursday and Friday. >> Click here to view an interactive road condition map for Oklahoma. Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews continue to address various road conditions throughout the state. Most counties east of I-35 are experiencing the heaviest snowfall, and crews are still clearing heavy snow and treating the area. Crews are also clearing snow-covered roads in northwest Oklahoma, excluding the Panhandle. Sports traffic is busy in the Oklahoma City metro, and things are better on I-40 from Oklahoma City to the west. Drivers are still advised to exercise caution, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Conditions have improved at most turnpikes in Oklahoma, but crews continue to clear slush and treat some slippery areas. ODOT also asks drivers to do the following in snow and ice conditions: Stay approximately 200 feet behind road clearing equipment and do not pass them. Crews need room to maneuver and can begin plowing or distributing materials without notice. Leave additional space between vehicles to ensure adequate braking distance. Watch out for black ice, which looks wet on the road but is only a thin layer of ice. Be patient, plan your trips in advance and allow extra time to reach your destination. Roads remain slick or covered in snow after a winter storm hit Oklahoma on Thursday and snowfall continued Friday morning.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews continue to clear and treat slick roads throughout the state, including Interstate 35, Interstate 40, US Highway 81 and US Highway 69/75. ODOT officials said I-35 was snowy to the south and slippery to the north, and motorists should allow plenty of time if they need to travel on the roads.

Slick roads are also being addressed in counties in east-central, eastern and southeastern Oklahoma. The moderate and heavy snowfall in the area has caused some visibility issues.

In the Northeast, snow-covered roads are being plowed and treated, and in McCurtain County, crews are addressing slippery and dangerous roads. Problems with slippery roads and elevated surfaces continue in the OKC and Tulsa metropolitan areas.

Oklahoma Turnpike Authority crews clear and treat slippery areas on turnpikes statewide. The Indian Nation Turnpike continues to experience the heaviest snowfall, and crews continue to clear and clear snow-covered roads on the I-44, US Highway 412/Cherokee, US Highway 412/Cimarron and Creek turnpikes.

Authorities advise against travel if it can be avoided and drivers should allow extra time and be aware of black ice. ODOT also asks drivers to do the following in snow and ice conditions:
