Check out Trent Frederic Thrash Lightning Defenseman of the Bruins

BOSTON — The Bruins didn’t need a spark, but they got one anyway.

The Black and Gold held a four-goal lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning when Trent Frederic dropped the gloves with Emil Lilleberg at 7:37 of the second period at TD Garden on Tuesday night.

Frederic certainly took the win, going over and under with his right hand and landing more than ten punches on tilt.

One can only assume that this move was a way for Lilleberg to retaliate for his nasty cross-check on Bruins striker Mark Kastelic in the game between the two clubs last week.

Kastelic and Lilleberg dropped the gloves in the final seconds of Boston’s sixth straight loss. The Tampa Bay defenseman also received a major penalty and a game misconduct penalty for cross-checking.

Frederic is on a Gordie Howe hat trick watch. The hard-hitting striker scored his seventh goal of the season after a perfect pass from Matthew Poitras and scored the first goal in the first period. In his fight against Lilleberg, Frederic needs support to achieve the feat.

For Frederic it is the second fight in his last three games. The Bruins forward knocked down Edmonton Oilers veteran Corey Perry in Boston’s shutout loss to the defending Western Conference champions last week.
