Chelsea 5-0 Morecambe, FA Cup: Post-match reactions, reviews

Immediately after the jump, attack and defense were at stake, although it took quite a long time for Chelsea to actually score – and that long-range shot from Tosin Adarabioyo still had to be deflected in by a defender who had his back turned.

Previously, Chelsea had created some good opportunities and Tosin had already hit the crossbar after a corner. And Christopher Nkunku saw the Morecambe goalkeeper save a penalty.

The guests were dangerous on the rare counterattacks, but Filip Jörgensen drove the balls into the penalty area.

Nkunku canceled out his earlier penalty by doubling Chelsea’s lead with the important second goal just minutes into the second half. That didn’t necessarily end the competition, but it did make it a lot more enjoyable.

But a second goal from Tosin, this time without a deflection thanks to an excellent long-range shot, definitely ended the contest with 20 minutes left to play. Then Félix scored his goal and then a second goal.

A penalty against Félix was then not whistled as the referee had mercy on the visitors, while Axel Disasi kept our team clean with a free kick from the goal line after Jörgensen dropped the ball after a corner.

Job done.

Carefree.

  • Almost a full rotation to the B lineup; Only Pedro Neto remained in the starting eleven for the previous game
  • Welcome back, Reece James and Roméo Lavia! 45 minutes of action for both of them, and also for Neto
  • Tyrique George was credited with some assists
  • No time was added in the second half; that’s rare!
  • The fourth round draw will take place tomorrow (Sunday).
  • Next up: Bournemouth at home on Tuesday evening
