Cher thinks about her second marriage.

In her best-selling memoirs Cher: The Memoirs, Part Onethe multi-hyphenate reflected on her relationship with the late Gregg Allman and how quickly she decided to marry the rocker.

Her divorce from ex-husband Sonny Bono was finalized in June 1975 and Cher, 78, was already dating Allman at the time. “It had taken so long and been so complicated that I was relieved when it was over,” she writes.

However, Cher had some reservations about her relationship with the Allman Brothers Band singer.

“I didn’t know whether my relationship with Gregory would last or not. I lived each day as it came,” she writes. “Then I found out I was pregnant and we decided to get married.” Cher said everything was in place so they could tie the knot soon.

Her sister Gee and friend Paulette looked at Cher “like I had gone to another universe” when she made the announcement. “Come on, let’s just do this,” she told them as they prepared to leave for Las Vegas.

“I just kept putting one foot in front of the other,” she writes. “The future is never set in stone. I did what I thought was right.”

The wedding ceremony was short and the small wedding party then flew back to California. “There was nothing romantic about our wedding day,” the Oscar winner notes of the 1975 nuptials, which came days after her divorce from Bono.

Cher filed for dissolution of marriage nine days after their wedding, but then reconciled. The couple had their son Elijah Blue in 1976 and remained married until 1979.

Allman died in 2017 at the age of 69 from complications of liver cancer.

Elsewhere in Cher’s memoir, the singer recalls, among other things, her relationship with Gene Simmons, taking a drunken John Lennon to the Playboy Mansion and her first impression of Dolly Parton.
