Chicago Bulls announce Josh Giddey’s injury during Bulls-Raptors

The Chicago Bulls play the Toronto Raptors in an Eastern Conference battle on Monday night. Neither team plans to make the playoffs and both will likely sell at the trade deadline, but they were in the middle of a must-win game when Bulls guard Josh Giddey was sidelined with an injury.

When Giddey completed a three-point attempt by Grady Dick in the third quarter, Giddey was in danger of suffering an ankle injury. The former Oklahoma City Thunder guard had 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists at the time of his injury. Giddey limped into the locker room and appeared to be in severe pain.

Via Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune: “Oh no. Josh Giddey puts a lot of strain on his right ankle after diving straight into Gradey Dick on a 3-point attempt. “Josh got up on his own but is supported and led straight to the locker room by medical staff.”

Shortly after Giddey returned to the locker room, the Bulls announced he would not return due to a right ankle injury.

Via Bulls: “Injury update: Josh Giddey (right ankle) is out for the remainder of today’s game against Toronto.”

Giddey was acquired by the Bulls from Oklahoma City this offseason in exchange for Alex Caruso. When Giddey took over the starting point guard duties, he had an up-and-down season, but was in a strong game when he was sidelined with that injury.

The Bulls will likely know more after the game, but for now they announce that Giddey will miss the remainder of the game with a right ankle injury.
