Chiefs-Raiders inactive: Mailk Herring inactive for Black Friday

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of inactive players for their Black Friday game against the Las Vegas Raiders. As expected, placekicker Spencer Shrader and newly signed offensive tackle DJ Humphries will not play. Defensive end Malik Herring, offensive linemen Ethan Driskell and CJ Hanson, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu also won’t be there. But special teams contributor Cam Jones will start against the Raiders.

Shrader was listed as out of in Thursday’s latest injury report after missing all of this week’s practices with a hamstring injury. Jones missed practice on Wednesday due to illness but was able to return to work on Thursday. He was explained questionable for Friday.

Humphries was the healthy scratch we expected; When asked Wednesday about a “reasonable timeline” for Humphries to get on the field, head coach Andy Read held off.

“Uh. We just play it by ear,” Reid said. “I told him, ‘Let’s just keep the lines of communication open and we’ll figure it out.’ We did the same with the other people who came in; We will simply maintain open communication. He seems like a guy who will shoot you on sight, so that’s what I expect.”

The rest of the Chiefs’ inactive players are also healthy scratches. This is the first game in which Herring has been inactive this season.

On Thursday, Kansas City signed placekicker Matthew Wright and tight end Anthony Firkser from the practice squad to the active roster. As promoted players, they will automatically be reinstated to the team’s training squad after this match. Both are active against Las Vegas.

The Raiders also released their inactive list. As we expected, running back Zamir White (quadriceps) and cornerback Nate Hobbs (ankle) will not play in Kansas City. Running back Alexander Mattison (ankle) will also not be there.

White and Hobs were both declared out of on Thursday, while Mattison was listed as questionable.

Quarterback Gardner Minshew (collarbone) and cornerback Jakorian Bennett (shoulder) were there endured the training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. But on Thursday, both were placed on the team’s reserve/injured list. Since they are no longer on the 53-man roster, they will not be listed as inactive for this game.

Quarterback Aiden O’Connell (thumb) – a full participant in this week’s exercises after being intended for return from reserve/injured – was added to the squad on Thursday; He is expected to start. The Raiders also activated practice squad wide receiver Terrace Marshall.

Las Vegas named defensive back Kyu Blu Kelly and running back Sincere McCormick from its practice squad for the game. Both will dress in Kansas City.
