An injury scare for star pass rusher Myles Garrett marred the first half of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns.

About five minutes before the end of the second quarter, Garrett went down on a seemingly innocuous play, throwing his helmet to the ground before collapsing on the turf.

Garrett was blocked by Chiefs lineman Joe Thuney and appeared to be in pain after sustaining accidental contact with or around the left side of his helmet.

It was not immediately clear what happened to Garrett. A slow-motion replay of the fall did not appear to show that Thuney had poked Garrett in the eye, and contact with the helmet appeared to be relatively minor.

Patrick Mahomes rushed to Garrett’s side when he saw the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year lying on the field and immediately called for medical staff to attend to the veteran sackmaster after the game.

Stay tuned for a better explanation of what happened to Garrett during the play.
