Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown will make his season debut in Week 16 against the Texans

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has been activated from injured reserve and will make his season debut Saturday against the Houston Texans.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Thursday that Brown has a “good chance” to play after undergoing surgery in September to repair a dislocated sternoclavicular joint in his shoulder that he injured in the preseason.

Brown was not expected to return during the regular season. But after doctors cleared him to train again this week, he was finally given the green light to play.

Brown, 27, suffered the injury in the Chiefs’ first preseason game in August. In September he was given a 4 to 6 week recovery plan. However, after further evaluation, it was determined that surgery would be the best next step as the shoulder was not healing properly.

Brown signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs in March worth up to $11 million. He spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, recording 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns.

A roster spot for Brown opened up this week when the Chiefs waived running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He later signed with the New Orleans Saints practice squad.

While Brown will likely play his first game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will “most likely play” after suffering a severe ankle sprain in a win over the Cleveland Browns last week. After initially worrying about his weekend status, Mahomes fully participated in practice.
