Chip Kelly expresses his regret that he was not allowed to play in the Ohio State Football vs. TTUN game

No one is saying the Ohio State football team played well against Michigan. It was by far the worst game they played offensively all season. They didn’t score at all in the second half and managed just ten points against a 6-5 Michigan team.

After the game ended, Chip Kelly received a lot of criticism. He was particularly criticized for his lack of passing moves on the outside. Jeremiah Smith didn’t get enough of the ball in this game. Instead, the Ohio State Buckeyes simply tried to direct the ball up the middle to the strength of Michigan’s defense.

Monday afternoon was the first time anyone had heard from Kelly since that terrible game against TTUN. It was the first time the media was able to ask him questions. He was bombarded with questions about his ability in that game. To his credit, he expressed regret about how everything turned out.

Kelly didn’t adopt the cliché and say he wouldn’t do anything differently. In fact, he said that would be stupid. He said he changed a lot of things when it came to the game instructions. Kelly said he should have tried more creative ways to get Jeremiah Smith the ball as well.

Kelly specifically mentioned that sometimes you can fall into the trap of thinking you have to win the uphill battle to win a game like this. After watching the tape, he said they should have tried harder to get the ball to the outside guys.

Based on his comments, Kelly seems determined not to let what happened against Michigan happen again. I would expect the offense to step up even more than it did in this game. Tennessee will see a different game plan.
