ORCHARD PARK, NY — San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey suffered a knee injury in the second quarter against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night and limped to the locker room.

McCaffrey stepped awkwardly to his left in a snow-covered field. The All-Pro went down almost immediately, losing 5 yards. He went to the sideline and was examined in the medical tent, and the 49ers rated McCaffrey’s return as questionable.

The appearance was McCaffrey’s fourth of the season after the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year missed the Niners’ first eight games with Achilles tendonitis. His 19-yard run in the first quarter was his longest of the season, and he had seven carries for 53 yards and two catches for 14 yards before getting injured.

Niners linebacker Fred Warner briefly left the game with cramps before returning.
