Citibank customers report fraud alerts and account access issues

Numerous Citibank customers reported fraud alerts and difficulties Access their accounts on Wednesday.

Hundreds of Citibank users had reported problems related to their accounts by midday, according to DownDetector.com, which tracks reports of digital service disruptions.

The website said the disruptions had been occurring since at least 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

A Citi spokesperson said the company is “experiencing some technical issues with the Citi mobile app experience that we are working quickly to resolve. For service purposes, customers can continue to log into Citi.com or call the number on the back of their cards or on their monthly statement during this time.”

Bank representatives responded to complaints on social media early Wednesday afternoon, with one writing on X: “We are currently working on this and ask that you call back in an hour or two.”

On Wednesday morning, Citi reported financial results that beat analysts’ expectations, with several divisions posting record sales.
