CJ Stroud’s 10-yard touchdown pass gives the Texans a 10-7 lead

The Texans have scored 10 straight points and are 10-7 ahead of the Chiefs.

Ka’imi Fairbairn scored a 33-yard field goal on Houston’s second possession. Then, after forcing a three-pointer, Houston scored again on a 10-yard touchdown from CJ Stroud to Dalton Schultz.

Houston’s third possession resulted in the club converting four third downs on the way to the end zone. At the end of the first quarter, Stroud managed to move the chains with a nice touch pass to Nico Collins for a 30-yard gain on third-and-six. Then he moved it again with an 8-yard pass to Xavier Hutchinson on third-and-7.

Then on third-and-13, Stroud found a wide-open Tank Dell for a 16-yard gain and another set of downs.

Finally, on third-and-1, Mixon rushed 4 yards inside the red zone to put Houston at the 10-yard line.

On the next play, Stroud dodged the pass rush and found Schultz open in the end zone for the score.

That was the culmination of a 13-play, 82-yard drive that lasted 6:05 minutes.

As for injuries, it’s questionable whether Texas guard Shaq Mason will return from a knee injury after going down on Houston’s first drive.

Chiefs special teams star Jack Cochrane went down on a kickoff return late in the first quarter. Although he was able to leave the field under his own power, he is sidelined with an ankle injury.
