Kevin Skarupa takes a look at our next chance at snow.

These cold winds from the northwest will continue over the next few days as we continue to track the potential system for the weekend. Here too, most of it revolved around Saturday. Most maps show the heaviest snowfall to our south early this morning, but we could still see some light snowfall or snow shower activity on Saturday. We will be watching for continued snow showers to the north, which will add up to *** more inches in places in Cowas County and some areas in the White Mountains. This will of course be mitigated by the northwest wind that will do that. There will be a few more gusts in excess of 35 mph throughout the afternoon. Temperatures are minus 10 degrees in the north, 20 degrees in the south and more of that with some sunshine tomorrow. The wind will die down significantly as we start the day on Friday. *** Some gusts over 25 mph into the afternoon. Look at your perceived readings, which will be below zero in many cases into the afternoon and will be even more similar tomorrow with similar temperatures. And again the winds die down a little, on Friday the winds die down a little, the sun shines at times, and then clouds move in. On Friday evening, you’ll notice the temperatures begin to ease after a few more days of temperatures in the 20s, the wind will naturally die down, the flow from Canada will begin to ease a bit, and we’ll have a mix of sunshine and clouds for the day on Friday have. Friday evening, the *** system, which is just beginning to form in the desert southwest, will move over Texas on Thursday. Clouds will begin to increase later in the day on Friday and there is a chance of light snow on Saturday. Highs today, teens in the north, low 20s in the south, of course, think about the wind. It won’t feel quite the same with winds below 0 this morning and single digits this afternoon. And again, copy for the day tomorrow before the wind dies down a bit, although it won’t be light, it will still be noticeable on Friday. The bulk of the accumulating snow will be to our south on Saturday. However, there is a chance of a little light snow or rain, and yes, there could be patchy inches in some places, but we don’t expect it to have a big impact on travel if you do that. Partial sunshine on Sunday, the coldest of the air as you saw, will eventually taper off and that will put us near the freezing mark again early next week.

Very cold, wind chilled temperatures will continue as winds will still gust over 30 mph over the next few days. Snow showers over the mountains, beautiful skies elsewhere. Sunny and a little milder at the end of the working week. We monitored a possible storm early Saturday into early Sunday. The latest model forecasts consistently show a more southerly direction, but we cannot yet determine this forecast. Stay tuned. Maximum temperatures in the south will be 20°C through Thursday, along with gusty winds, isolated thunderstorms and light snow showers in the north. After some sunshine and temperatures between 20°C and almost 30°C on Friday, our next chance for widespread snow could come on Saturday. but the computer models have moved further south with the heavier band of snowfall. At the moment the most likely scenario for us is that it will be light snow and rain on Saturday before there is partial sunshine again on Sunday. Since it will still be a few days away, we will continue to monitor the storm track and watch for any changes.
