College Football Playoff Final Round Prediction, Top 25

GRAPEVINE, Texas – Clemson won the ACC in dramatic fashion with three losses on Saturday night and is headed to the College Football Playoff.

But at whose expense?

In the 12-team CFP era, Clemson may have beaten SMU twice in the same night – first on the field and then again, knocking them out of the No. 12 spot by committee to make room for itself as the fifth-highest ranked conference champion .

Or will the committee look favorably on the Mustangs’ second-half comeback and instead give Alabama three losses?

While Georgia’s win over Texas in the SEC title game will provide some movement at the top and Arizona State’s Big 12 title gave the Sun Devils a much-needed boost, there was probably no bigger ripple effect Saturday night than Clemson’s win in the ACC.

Here’s the final prediction of what the CFP committee’s group and top 25 could look like on selection day. This is based on what the selection committee has done so far, what committee chairman Warde Manuel has said about the field and its possibilities, and how the committee has already evaluated the teams so far.

Remember, the four highest-ranked conference champions receive a bye and the top five conference champions gain entry into the field.
