The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have accomplished what they have failed to do in the last 31 years. The Irish won a Big Bowl game. Don’t forget that Notre Dame already has a College Football Playoff win under its belt – this one just means more. Notre Dame’s 23-10 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl banished the SEC Champions and almost every single demon they had accumulated over those 31 years.

It was an amazing performance in a very SEC-like game. It was certainly a defensive battle, but it also showed Notre Dame’s toughness and Marcus Freeman’s willingness to be a very aggressive head coach.

Notre Dame WON that football game, and they did it in true Notre Dame style. The stats won’t dazzle you, and the special teams made the difference here with 16 points, but the passion with which the Irish won this game in all phases will – it was special.
