Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark this season with a 65-yard touchdown run against the Tennessee Titans.

On a 3rd-and-1 from their own 29-yard line, Anthony Richardson handed the ball off to Taylor, who was able to advance to the second level with the help of his offensive line. From there, Taylor, as he does, missed a defender and then ran everyone else into the end zone, where he made sure to not only hold on to the ball across the goal line, but also carry it into the tunnel.

After a rocky start for the Indianapolis offense in this game, the running game provided a huge spark. Before Taylor’s big run, the Colts ran a 57-yard touchdown six plays to gain possession and ran the ball on all six plays, including a 29-yard run by Richardson.

At one point in the second quarter, the Colts ran the ball on 12 consecutive plays.

Just four possessions in the game, Taylor had a total of 112 rushing yards on 11 carries, and the Colts’ entire offense, with help from Richardson, has 169 rushing yards – which is already a season high for them.

Due to some absences due to injury, Taylor only appeared in twelve games this season, but managed to pass the 1,000-yard mark. This is now the third time in his career that he has surpassed 1,000 yards and the first time he has done so since 2021.

Taylor entered Week 16 ranked eighth in the NFL in rushing yards this season and also ranked eighth in rushing of at least 10 yards.

Taylor now joins Edgerrin James, Marshall Faulk and Lydell Mitchell as the fourth Colts player in team history to rush for 1,000 yards at least three times.
