Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz had his best game of the season in Sunday night’s win over the Atlanta Falcons.

The 12-year veteran caught six passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns. His final catch came on the final play of the game, a two-yard touchdown in overtime to secure the Commanders a playoff spot.

Ertz has started every game for Washington this season, recording 61 receptions for 610 yards and six touchdowns. In addition to his on-field performance, Ertz has proven to be a leader for the Commanders and a mentor to several younger players, such as quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Ertz made a lot of money in Sunday’s win. His performance triggered three different bonuses in his contract. Ertz signed a one-year contract worth up to $5 million through the 2024 season.

Here are the incentives he achieved, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Sunday:

  • His sixth TD catch of the season triggered a $250,000 bonus.

  • Ertz earned another $250,000 by making over 60 catches that season.

  • Ertz earned another $250,000 by running for over 600 yards.

Additionally, Ertz moved past Pro Football Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome to ninth all-time in receiving yards by a tight end. Even better: it was his mother’s birthday.

It was a good evening for Zach Ertz.
