Conor McGregor claims he is boxing Logan Paul with his career at a sad crossroads

Conor McGregor wants to do anything but fight in the UFC.

The embattled UFC superstar posted on social media that he had agreed to box YouTuber Logan Paul in an exhibition gimmick match in India in 2025.

“The rumors of a fight with (Ilia) Topurio (sic) are false,” McGregor said in a social media post. “I have made tentative arrangements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing competition in India. I agreed. Then I will aim for my return to the octagon.”

Topuria is the UFC featherweight champion and has had arguments with McGregor on social media.

“The rumors about a fight with Mchicken are false. “I do not fight nor am I interested in fighting a rapist,” Topuria wrote on X, referring to a civil lawsuit McGregor recently lost.

McGregor had already withdrawn from a fight against Michael Chandler in July with just ten days’ notice due to a broken toe.

He hasn’t fought in the UFC since July 2021, when he gruesomely broke his tibia in a loss to Dustin Poirier.

McGregor will certainly make an insane amount of money from the planned boxing match, but fans should keep their expectations in check as to the excitement the fight will bring.

In his prime, the 5-foot-10 McGregor was a UFC 145-pound champion.

At 6-foot-3, Paul weighed 189.5 pounds when he boxed 44-year-old Floyd Mayweather to a draw in 2021.

McGregor also boxed Mayweather, a TKO loss in round 10 in 2017.

McGregor might run into some problems setting up the event. No fighter has ever boxed outside of the UFC without having him as a co-promoter.

The UFC also had Francis Ngannou step down from the promotion due to contract disputes when he wanted to box Tyson Fury in 2023, which he did, but without any involvement from his now-former employer.

Ngannou is now fighting for the PFL.

McGregor and the UFC certainly weren’t in the best of shape before this unconfirmed fight announcement with Paul.

McGregor is currently planning to appeal a civil lawsuit after a jury found him liable in a case in which Irish woman Nikita Hand accused him of rape.

McGregor vehemently denies that anything that was non-consensual happened during the exchange.

He only has two fights left on his contract with the UFC. At this point, the 36-year-old will be a free agent in the combat sports world if he is not signed by Dana White’s promotion.
